Dan Healy on Sound
Notes:
This was recorded from the first row, center section of the venue. I was
sitting in the 2nd seat from the aisle, left side. There is a greater
presence in the left channel due to placement (and PA pickup) but I left
the 'unbalance' for posterity. I started off the 1st set with the mics run
very low (~4-5ft). Even though we were Row C, it was the first row and nobody
was in front of us...at first. As the night progressed, so did the stand height.
By the end of the first set (including all of Deal) the stand was at full
height. The stand flew at full height for the entire second set.
The sound is rough at first (due to the stand being so low), but gets much
better as the show progresses. If you're a stickler for quality, you may want
to start off with the second set.
Setlist originally performed: 8/20/1983, Palo Alto, CA
