Carmel Fire Department and Carmel Clay Parks have cut the ribbon on a new automated external defibrillator or AED station. They’re installing safe stations along the path in a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state.
An AED is used to help those experiencing cardiac arrest; this will be the first of many to come to the Carmel trails network and Carmel Clay Parks facilities and grounds. An AED is a complex but easy-to-use medical device that can analyze the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.
