"Something About David H" - 15 minute track in Dolby Surround I originally recording this to a DTRS-8 track and mixed it with a "homebrew" Dolby surround encoder to produce an amazing surround mix - listen with "Dolby Pro Logic" or "Neural Surround" for an immersive experience!  (Can also be played in stereo).

Banyan with Steve Perkins, Mike Watt, Nels Cline, and Willie Walden, plus Herman Green on sax and Leo from Russia on Clarinet, and Norton Wisdom on paint. Recorded with 3 PZM mics surrounding the drums, one SM-57 on Nels (guitar) and 2 SM-57 for the horns section. Last time, I only setup one mic for the horns section and they needed two. So tonight, I setup two mics but Willie brings in Herman Green and Leo and suddenly they need four mics! (Willie uses one for dry and one for effects, and...

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, I am posting this improv from the Nels Cline Trio originally performed, and dedicated to, that day. This unusual performance begins and ends with Nels playing the tenor recorder (a woodwind instrument), and transitioning seamlessly to electric guitar. Nels has never played a wind instrument before or since (to my knowledge). The performance was at the Alligator Lounge in Santa Monica, California in January, 1997, as part of the New Music Mondays series. The...

This is my third mix version of an Improv from Safari Sam's - Hollywood. Recorded by Gary Davis in the SSSS/DTRS format (8 track recording). I worked the faders a bit more this time. Also I let the tape run and mixed the next and final improv of the evening, which I've named 'Last Attack'. Note: this version of Banyan has Daniel Shulman of Garbage on bass; this band has never played together before and therefore did mostly improvs... which is a good thing! Comments on the recording quality and...
