Subject: Such an amazing event
As always, thank you Mr. Miller. Flawless indeed.
Subject: Some of the best post-Grateful Dead music
Show is out of control perfection. Miller's transfer as always brings heavy bass and perfect pitch. The lineup is as tight as a band that had been performing instrumentals together for decades. I guess Phil can bring that out in folks.
Page & Trey bring the right Phish songs into rotation that compliment the Dead set nicely. Caspian Jam is lovely. If some of the routine transitions/changes are a little less together than they could be, its fun to hear them discovering the nuances together.
The Q was the best lineup for P&F, but these three shows show display potential potency of this as the real deal post-G Dead.
After all the ridiculous Phish v. Dead fan squabbling, this show reveals a lineup of musically connected old friends. Very jam forward, both Phish and Dead phriendly.
A gem on the archive.
Subject: "The Real Ones"
The Slipknot! alone is worth the prices of admission.
There are some missteps, the transition into Franklin's and jumping right into Tennessee Jed after a reflective instrumental of Stella Blue.
The Alligator is very nice as it is "phishified".
Set two has Trey stepping up and out big time. He really explodes during The Eleven and Unbroken Chain. This version is before the dramatic long build up ending and Page is stellar on it.
The Scarlet is another gem.
You do realize how much Kimock and Phil enjoyed playing off each other and hopefully that fence will be mended some day and they will play together again.
Molo is a beast the entire night.
Phish meets the Dead-- and the blend is potent.
Ambitious setlist (WYWH four songs in!)
Thank you to everyone involved.
Subject: Its all relative
Giving it 5 stars because when you compare it to other PL&F concerts it is a stand out show. Could be the best ever. Heck the guitar work trumps a lot of the later GD stuff. I know that's heresy but its true.
Oh Ya .... 24-track>DAT rules. Just get this version.
Charlie Miller called this 24-track mix "flawless" waaaaaay back in '05.
So,it is clear that this is the copy to hear and DL.
These day, it is vital to click "check for other copies" before you listen, DL or review.
Subject: Downhill from here for P&F
The Stella was a had to be there moment, imo. Which I was, so I'm a fan. It's my favorite composition by Jerry and Hunter, so I was touched by the tip of the hat. I was also annoyed when the went to the vocal arrangement with Warren Haynes later. I thought a one-time-only instrumental tribute was the way to go.
Basically your retarded.... like really
prolly the top 5 (post Jerry) dead shows
